HUNGARY - HOLLOKO Up to yet another rainy, misty, low cloud Budapest day. Despite the weather, the buses were right on time to take us to Holloko for our visit to an old farming community which has been designated a World Heritage Site. The little town is home to about 7000 souls. It required a drive of about 1 ½ hours to reach Holloko which is north east of Budapest. We went through stretches of grey, boxy, concrete communist housing on the outskirts of the Budapest and into rural Hungary. This little town dates from the thirteenth century and is quite picturesque. The houses are the now familiar gunshot style (the older ones) and have only dirt floors, but also a “clean” room parlor for special family occasions. The cobblestone streets run up and down fairly gentle hills.
