How won- derful! Yes, " H i s name shall be called Wonderful." (Isa. 9:6.) His Name stands for His character or person. As Jesus He is Saviour of the world; as Christ He is God's Anointed; as Lord He is ruler. But He has a name that is above every name, not only in this world but also in that which is to come. (Eph. 1:21.) His name is to be the Word of God (Eev. 19:13) and His name is to be King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Kev. 19:16.) And then He is to have a new name that no man knows but Himself. (John 1:3; Heb. 1:2.) 3—"All things were created for Him." (Vs. 16.) The purposes of God are wrapped up in His Son, and He has ereated and sustained them for Him. (John 14:9.) 5—He is the first born of every cre- ation. (Vs. 15.) In the new creation He is the first born. Israel is God's first born among nations. (Ex. 4:22-23; Jer. 31:9.) 6—He is the first born from the dead. (Vs. 18.) (1 Cor. 15:20; Eev. 1:5.) He is the first fruits of a harvest.
