WINNERS

Rosh Schoeman National winner / Club professional Schoeman is Director of Golf at Wood- hill Country Club in Gauteng North. The award acknowledges the dedi- cation required to manage facilities, engage members, work with commit- tees, and continuously enhance the golfing experience at Woodhill, a Pe- ter Matkovich-designed course which has risen from No 70 in the 2021 Golf Digest rankings to No 43 this year. The longest-serving golf director in the club’s history, Schoeman is proud of the progress achieved during his

tenure and remains excited about the club’s future. He credits the PGA with playing a significant role in both his personal and professional development, providing valuable opportunities, support, and lifelong friendships that have strengthened his connection to the golfing community. A strong supporter of the professional game, the 38-year-old actively con- tributes through pro-am events and sponsorships that help fellow profes- sionals and promote the growth of golf. Central to Schoeman’s leadership philosophy is creating a welcoming environment where every member and guest feels valued and included. This commitment has contributed to consistent membership growth of ap- proximately six percent annually, introducing more people to the game. He recognises the vital role of his dedicated team, many of whom have worked alongside him for years.

Chris Marrs International winner

Based in Malaysia, Marrs became a full PGA member in 2007 and has worked primarily in Asia since then, including China, com- bining coaching excellence with innova- tion, integrating biomechanics, launch monitor technology, force plates, and per- formance analysis into academy opera- tions. He is Director of Instruction for the MST Golf Academy at Kuala Lumpur G&CC

and teaches in both English and Chinese Mandarin. His vision has helped expand participation in the region. His philosophy is that technology should enhance effective coaching. Marrs has helped create international career opportunities for South African PGA professionals in Asia.
