How did you get into the hospitality industry? I started as a 17-year-old just looking for a part-time job to save money for college. I was a team member for Panera and loved working with food and alongside other individuals who were eager to learn more about the restaurant industry. What has been the weirdest moment in your training career so far?

What is the most impactful thing you have learned about training? During Covid we had to change the way we conducted in- restaurant training. We had to use our training kitchen to mimic what was happening on site, which was a fascinating experience teaching others virtually from a completely different state. Being comfortable with being uncomfortable. In learning something new - whether being a new topic or skill - we have to be ok with not being perfect or understanding at first. It is important that we know that at all times it is ok to be a beginner even though we may be an expert in another area. With training it is important to sit back and sometimes be the student versus the teacher.
