The beginnings of Tinicum Park Polo Club are modest ones. The founders - polo players and enthusiasts, met at a local restaurant to hone out the necessary rudiments of organizing a Polo Club. In 1993, having initially received permission to use the local public park as a field, this groundbreaking group began its first official season. Five games were played the first year. Officially registered with the United States Polo Association (USPA) in the fall of 1993, Tinicum Park Polo Club held its first publicly recognized USPA game on June 4, 1994. Today the club’s season is 20 weeks long with matches every Saturday, including 5 USPA tournaments. Tinicum Park Polo Club has been honored with the designation as the largest club in the USPA’s Eastern Circuit. This achievement has been possible due to the key philosophy of its founders - to foster accessibility of the sport of polo to all. To date, the club is proud of welcoming an all inclusive membership which includes players from all backgrounds and skill levels. The club was built on the dedication of both volunteers and players. Each season the group combined its resources and continued to grow. Within three years the Tinicum Park Polo Club players roster went from fifteen to over forty. The club was then restructured to include a Board of Directors. Continued development has included a youth division, creating opportunities for players as young as twelve years old. Thousands of spectators gather to experience this thrilling and elegant event, making Saturday games a valuable, local attraction for the entire Bucks County region. The club’s seasonal schedule includes signature and charitable events. Celebrating 28 Years! 2018 marked the important milestone of 25 years of continued operation from its present location. This achievement makes it unique among its circuit members. And, unlike any other club, it combines the elegance and style of a truly majestic sport while being supported by an inclusive membership from diverse backgrounds and all levels of skill. n
