The ECOC Exhibition Industry Awards, in partnership with Optical Connections, return to celebrate the people, companies and technologies driving innovation across the optical communications industry. Now featuring six award categories, the 2026 awards recognise outstanding achievements across optical access, optical modules, components, fibre and interconnect, test and measurement, and optical communications. From next-generation network infrastructure and advanced photonics to breakthrough products and
technologies, the awards shine a spotlight on the innovations helping to shape the future of our industry.
OPTICAL COMPONENT INNOVATION AWARD Advances in photonic integration are transforming the optical communications landscape. This award recognises innovations in optical components, photonic integrated circuits (PICs), optical sub-assemblies (OSAs), and integration platforms that enhance performance, reduce cost, and enable new applications. Due to the high number of nominees in the Optical Component Innovation Award category, the committee have split this into two sub-categories: Don’t miss the chance to discover this year’s winners as they are announced live at the awards ceremony on Monday 21 September at 15:40 in the Product Focus Theatre. Join fellow industry professionals to celebrate the achievements of this year’s nominee and be among the first to find out who takes home an ECOC Exhibition Industry Award.
Award Categories
OPTICAL ACCESS INNOVATION AWARD Optical access technologies continue to evolve to deliver higher capacity, improved efficiency, and lower cost per bit across access networks. This award recognises innovations in optical access solutions, including PON and FTTx technologies, that enable enhanced performance, scalability, and reliability. Consideration is given to advances in system design, deployment, and network intelligence. BEST OPTICAL MODULE AWARD Pluggable optics, co-packaged optics (CPO), and transponder technologies are critical to enabling nextgeneration networks. This award recognises innovations in optical modules, transceivers, and transponders that deliver higher data rates, improved power efficiency, and increased density across telecom and data centre environments. BEST OPTICAL T & M PROCESS AWARD Testing and measurement are essential to ensuring performance and reliability in optical networks. This award recognises innovations in optical test and measurement processes, equipment, and instrumentation that improve accuracy, speed, automation, and usability for nextgeneration optical systems. FIBRE INFRASTRUCTURE INNOVATION AWARD Fibre infrastructure and interconnect solutions remain at the forefront of optical communications technologies. This award recognises innovations in fibre, cable systems, enclosures, panels, and interconnect platforms (including AEC, AOC, DAC) that improve ease of installation, increase density, enhance reliability, and reduce overall deployment cost. OPTICAL COMMUNICATION INNOVATION AWARD Electronic and semiconductor technologies are key enablers of high-performance optical systems. This award recognises innovations in optical communication technologies, including electrical ICs, DSPs, drivers, and semiconductor solutions (silicon and compound), that enhance system performance, efficiency, and integration.
