There are 2 parts to PIP: • A daily living part- if you need help with everyday tasks e.g. preparing food, eating/drinking, managing your medication, washing and dressing, socialising, talking, listening or understanding. • A mobility part- if you need help with getting around, physically moving around or leaving your home Whether you get one or both parts and how much you get depends on how difficult you find everyday tasks and getting around. If you have less than 12 months to live, you’ll automatically get the daily living part. Whether you get the mobility part depends on your needs. Eligibility • You’re 16 or over • You have a long-term physical or mental health condition or disability • You have difficulty doing certain everyday tasks or getting around • You expect the difficulties to last for at least 12 months from when they started

You may be entitled to a Council Tax reduction on your property. You can claim Council Tax Reduction if you are already claiming other benefits such as Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support or Universal Credit. You may also claim it if you are working but on low income.
There is also a reduction in Council Tax if you or the person you care for has a severe mental impairment. This could include someone who has been diagnosed as suffering with severe and enduring mental health issues including Alzheimer’s disease, other forms of dementia and strokes.
