To promote, plan, finance and create opportunities for the attraction, growth and retention of enterprises that enhance the tax base, quality of life and level of employment for the citizens of DeSoto, Texas. Business Plan Goals
1. Develop a Grow DeSoto Market Place construction/transition plan to include more traditional restaurant space and seating areas (FY 2022) 2. Develop strategies to attract professionals in the medical, technology legal, science and engineering fields 3. Partner with Dallas Entrepreneur Center to create and implement viable options for start-up & innovation 4. Develop incentive program to attract anchor developments

Department Goals 1. Attract a net, minimum outside investment of $100 million to make DeSoto more prosperous 2. Obtain commitments for a minimum of $100M of new development within TIRZ Zone #2 3. Complete CRM Implementation and expand Business Retention and Expansion survey rollout. Implement Call-to-Contact continuum measurement and reporting. 4. Increase the net sales tax revenue by at least 5% above FY23 actuals 5. Increase employment opportunities by a minimum of 100 jobs 6. Continue development program with qualified local/national franchisors, brokers, tenant representatives and developers focusing on retail, restaurant, and neighborhood services 7. Continue efforts to establish workforce training/internship initiatives for both high school students and adults in targeted industry sectors 8. Expand outreach to Chambers of Commerce representing alternative and ethnic populations 9. Improve “frictionless” development efforts with other departments Personal Professional Development Plan 1. Expand engagement with Dallas Regional Chamber and Texas Economic Development Council 2. Expand participation in International Economic Development Council leadership to include committee work 3. Participate in emerging industry seminars and trends 4. Identify personal training initiatives to include Leadership Conference participation and expanded TEDC involvement
