they are in the spiritual conscious ness” ( Twelve Powers of Man, p. 167). These views are a definite heritage from his Christian Science experience. There is a tolerance of sin in theory at least: “ God never holds anyone under condemnation. In God’s sight each one of us is al ways His beloved son; we have never ceased to be such, and never will cease to be” (Adventures in Prosperity, Wilson, p. 60). I n the Temperance Lesson of Oct. 25, 1953, the following comment occurs on the hack page of W eek ly Unity: “ Is de sire evil? No, all desire in essence is spiritual, and is good. Is the desire for intoxicants good? Actually man does not have a desire for intoxi cants. His spirit reaches out (de sires) for spiritual food and drink, namely, love, peace, joy, and all the other divine qualities of Spirit that stimulate his spiritual growth. When, however, man is under the domination of the sense mind, his spiritual desire is distorted into false appetite for those things which stimulate him physically. How do metaphysicians help th ose who have become slaves to false appe tites? First, by establishing the un derstanding in the truth that all- pervading Mind is ever present as satisfying food and drink: then mentally and silently denying the power of appetite to master the man of dominion, and affirming that the Christ indwelling in him is master of his world.” According to this, one desires or he doesn’t. He overcomes or he doesn’t. He can only overcome by denying its mastery and by use of affirmation which is a typical Unity form of worship. Before we go on to a description of these affirmations and denials, note this question and answer in W eek ly Unity of Jan. 30, 1955: “ Explain the spiritual meaning of ‘For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.’ Spiritual man, the image and like ness of God, is perfect. Manifest man seeking to express his divine nature, makes many mistakes, and
