In view of the recent discovery of eras in dating we remain skeptical of the “250 million years” daté. Irresponsibility, In a recent interview in the New York Post, Father Charles E. Cough lin of Royal Oak, Mich., said he regretted the publication of the so-called Protocols of the Elders of Zion some years ago. Father Cough lin became a notorious figure as a leader of anti-Semitism in America in the late thirties. The authentic ity of this document has been de nied many times by competent scholars who claim them to be of anti-Semitic origin. In his inter view, Father Coughlin now admits that their validity is “ doubtful” and said it “ should be impossible to indict an entire race of people.” By his own adm is sion Father Coughlin made a very serious mis take when he circulated these doc uments and it is commendable that he admitted his mistake. However, he cannot undo the damage which has been done by his irresponsi bility. The American public is weary with statistics, but it should be noted that “ the correlation with population growth accounted for only a small part of this serious trend.” Since 1950, the report said, “major criminal cases have increased almost four times as fast as population.” Virtuous Campaign Launched Newspapers in south Vietnam have launched a campaign against Viet namese women’s clothing which they described as “ too transparent, too short at the bottom and too low at the top.” Calling for a “ virtuous Vietnam,” they also protested against French al coholic drinks, foreign films and anti clerical books. The Mennonites supplied their own transportation from the Bucks- Lancaster County area, brought their own food and their own buck ets and mops. The men performed the more arduous tasks in the clean-up, while the Women and children followed close behind with buckets and mops. This is a demonstration of a true Christian spirit. These people came not seeking publicity or praise but seeking only an opportunity to help those in need.
