That the young men were being encouraged to be pacifists and to demonstrate against the ROTC did nothing to fill the vacuum in the life of Robert, a patriot who had served in the Navy. Later, when he attended Bible Study in the home of a member of the Navigators a Christian organ- ization which worked with men in the military, for the first time, he heard a clear and simple presentation of the concept of personal salvation. He accepted Christ when an invitation was given and the vacuum in his life was finally filled. After receiving Christ as his personal Saviour, Robert Crawford was in- vited to attend the fundamental Grace Tabernacle Church in San Luis Obispo, where he thoroughly enjoyed the new fellowship he had found with Christians and where he was introducted to Biola College. During a Missionary Conf- erence at the Church, he met some Biola personnel and heard an excellent message by Dr. Talbot. ' Also, during that year he met Miss Sandra Arlene Powell.
