Interestingly, Dr. and Mrs. Iwata were on a six-week tour of Europe in the summer of 1978, when they ._c6incidentaly met Dr. Robert Stephens of the Biola Science Department, who apprised them of events at Biola during the sununer, including the resignation of the Dean. When the Iwatas returned, President Chase asked Dr. Iwata if he would consider being the Dean of tre School for a period of perhaps two years. After much prayer and consider- ation, he accepted the position, assuming the duties in July, 1978.
