I At the beginning of his last year of residency at Dallas Seminary, Dr. Feinberg was asked by the Registrar to teach the courses in Church History, -·:fe pT ac"i.ngthe instructor who was not returning . Although he had only one week to prepare for the classes, he agreed to teach them. Then, in 1935, at the time he graduated from the Seminary, he was informed that Dr. Thiessen was leaving the faculty to take a rx:>sition at Wheaton College and was asked to take over the Old Testament Hebrew Classes. He taught in this area from 1935 to 1945, except for two years he was on leave of absence doing graduate work at Johns Hopkins University. While teaching at Dallas Seminary, Dr. Feinberg found time to study Old Testament History at Southern Methodist University . He received the M. A. degree, which complemented his B. A. degree in history from the Uni- versity of Pittsburg . During his years of study at Southern Methodist, he became aware of his need for more training in the area of liberal arts . This awareness resulted from the constant accusations of the liberal theo- logians concerning the weak scholarship of the fundamentalists, and he wanted to refute their argument. He was favorably impressed when he read a book by Dr. Albright of Johns Hopkins University . While doing some Con- ference work in the east, he visited Johns Hopkins for a private conference with Dr. Albright . As a result, he enrolled in the University to work for the Ph. D. degree in Semitic Languages. He received the degree in 1945 . Dr . Feinberg ' s first contacts with Biola pre-dates his joining the fac- ulty . His first contact was in 1946, when he was one of the speakers at the Annual Torrey Bible Conference. His ministry in that conference stimu- lated considerable interest in the possibility of his becoming a member of the faculty. When Dr. Feinberg again participated in the 1946 Torrey Con- ference, he met with Dr. Talbot and Dr. J. Vernon McGee, who at that time was teaching in the Bible Department, an.d was cons i dering accepting the pas- torate of the Church of the Open Door, to discuss the possibility of his
