177b Crowell Hall, better known as the Music Center, erected in 1965 and na.'11ed in honor of Miss Alice Crowell, a sister of Mrs. Lyman Stewart, was the next structure. One of the major features of this Center is the Schantz pipe organ, donated by Mrs. Louise Lansing for whom the auditorium in the building is named. According to Mr. Richard Unfried, the Biola organist, this instrument which cost Biola $37,000.00 when it was installed, is valued at $192,000.00 today. The value of such an instrument is determined by the number of stops it has; this one has a total of twenty-four, each adding approximately $8,000.00 to its value. Also, the excellent accoustics of the auditorium make it one of the best recital centers in the Southern California area. In 1966, three more buildings were erected: Alpha Chi Hall, a woman's dormitory on the north or upper campus; Chase Gymnasium; and, the Rose of Sharon Prayer Chapel, in many ways, the most interesting building on the campus. Funds for the Chapel were given by Mr. Robert L. Menshew, a Jewish Christian student, in memory of his bride, Sharon Lynn Menshew, who died of leukemia six months after they were married. Young Menshew, who, with his father, was a partner with .his uncle, founder of the chain of Sizzler Res- taurants, made the stipulation that this Chapel was to be used exclusively for private prayer and meditation. Therefore, Biola .has consistently turned down all requests to use it for small weddings, public devotions, and other events. Many students appreciate the opportunity to engage in silent prayer and meditation in the Chapel from 6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P. M. One of the two buildings erected in 1967 was Marshburn Hall, the funds for which were donated by Mr. Sylvester Marshburn, a member of the Biola Board of Directors for many years and now an honorary member, as a memorial to his wife. In addition to three large class rooms and a recording studio for the "Biola Hour" radio program, this building provided offices for the President, Deans,ยท Business Manager, Alumni Association, Missions _Department, and others until Metzger Hall was erected. The second of these two buildings
