/.. expressed their disapproval of the book and declared that its thought and teaching did not represent the teaching of Biola; (3) they stated that they __ had discontinued the use, sale, and circulation of the book and that all re- maining copies, , together with the type form, had been destroyed; (4) they declared their determination to adhere strictly to the purpose for which Biola was founded; (5) they declared that only those teachers who were in complete harmony with Biola's Statement of Doctrine would be permitted to teach in the School. By this action the Board had made a 180 degree turn from the position it held at the beginning of the controversy, After this action by the Board, the Macinnis controversy began to fade into the background. Dr. Macinnis was out, the School began to return to a measure of normalcy, its testimony was restored, and it was again accepted into the fold of fundamentalists. The Dean's attempt to change the School's program and reorder its direction had met with defeat. The era which fol- lowed has been referred to as "a time of rebuilding the School," which was, in reality, an accurate statement. :Replacements had been found for the Board members and for faculty and staff who had resigned over the issues involved in the controversy. The financial structure was slowly rebuilt. Biola had convinced the Christian public that it had really cleaned house and had set its affairs in order. Fortunately, it was able to do this and to move on to fulfill the purpose for which it was originally established. ___ ;..:;=--~-~
