opportunity is right here . “The day I realized an affordable study abroad What is study abroad? It’s an opportunity to earn academic credit toward your degree while you live and study in a different country. What if I can’t afford it? You can. USAC has international programs for every budget. Also: • Scholarships. There are national, local, and study abroad- specific scholarships. Sometimes there are more scholarships

than students to apply for them. And the process is easy to navigate. • Our programs are often priced less than the cost to attend an in- state university. • Financial aid can frequently be used toward study abroad costs. • Program locations are chosen not just for their authenticity but for their affordability. • You’ll have access to our interactive budget

What type of traveler am I ? So, start thinking to yourself ...
RIGHT NOW
Okay, but for real, why are the USAC programs so affordable? We’re not a for-profit organization looking to sell you expensive packages. USAC is a nonprofit with the sole mission of helping students study abroad. All our programs focus on creating immersive, cultural experiences with high-quality institutions away from pricey tourist destinations.. Also, the biggest study abroad myth is probably that it’s too expensive. That isn’t the case anymore. Many USAC programs cost the same as in-state tuition for the same period of time. Reasonable program fees, discounts, and scholarships for every program make it that much more affordable.

IMAGINE yourself abroad
TOMORROW
WHY DO IT? You’ll gain a new perspective , make lifelong friends , build cross-cultural and critical thinking skills , develop your confidence , improve your adaptability , distinguish yourself among employers, and immerse yourself in fascinating communities far beyond the borders you’ve always known. It’s a pretty good deal.
Where will you go?

You choose. Programs range from three weeks to an academic year.
what if there are no classes in my major?
There most likely are. People often think study abroad is just about learning a foreign language. While that can be part of it, there are courses across STEM fields, business, communications and media, education, health sciences, humanities, social sciences, and more!
speaking of that what if I don’t know the language of the country I want to study in?
For most programs, you don’t have to speak a foreign language. Not even a little bit. But if learning a second (or third or fourth) language is your goal, you can sometimes learn the equivalent of two years of language learning in one semester. Bonus: That gets you even closer to graduation.
won’t I be lonely?
An understandable concern. And to be honest, maybe a little at first. It’s a transition. But we’ll connect you with your community through homestays, field trips, internships, tours, service learning, volunteering, campus clubs and events, and other opportunities. Lifelong friendships are forged all the time through study abroad. It’ll be okay.

INTERNSHIPS ABROAD
We went to an area with more severe cancer cases in the Baan Cheevasilp Art Therapy Center Pediatric Cancer Unit.
We sang a song that has dance moves to it — moving the heads, shoulders, knees, and toes — and one of the kids loved the song so much that he was standing up on his bed, doing the dance with us. He was smiling, laughing, and singing along. It’s pretty amazing to see him going from lying in bed looking unhappy to being super excited to be participating in [the music]. Allie D. ’23

Apply Step 3: Begin your application
What’s the application process? It’s easy to navigate, and we’ll be there to help if you need us. The process works like this: 1. Complete the initial online application at usac.edu/apply. USAC doesn’t require a fee to apply, so there’s no risk. 2. You’ll receive a preliminary admissions decision via email, along with login instructions for your student account, which is called Gateway. 3. Log in to your Gateway account and complete the remaining application requirements. (A quick note that home university approval is likely necessary.) 4. When everything checks out, you’ll receive an email with a formal USAC admissions offer. 5. Accept your spot and submit your confirmation deposit, which will be applied to your program fees. 6. Watch your inbox for guidance on preparing for your study abroad. usac.edu/apply GATEWAY LOGIN

You’ll be automatically enrolled in USAC’s health insurance plan, which is included in the program fee and administered by Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI).

I studied in the Korean language program in Yeosu, and it was the best decision I could have ever made! If you want to truly immerse yourself in Korean culture, then this is the route to go. The teachers taught the language so well and they were very patient. I learned about two semesters worth of Korean in one semester, and it was so powerful! I was able to have nice conversations with the people around me, and it taught me how beautiful the language is. Yeosu is an amazing city by the ocean, and it will offer so many activities that will make your stay so fun!
