USAC Snapshot 2024-2025

Health

Wellness Safety

LGBTQIA+, women, and underrepresented community resources Laws and social norms for gender, sexual orientation, race and ethnicity vary between countries, and foreign governments may or may not provide the same protection of civil liberties that are standard in the U.S. Research your host country to learn the cultural customs and norms that may impact your identities. Our Program Advisors can help too!

Emergency plan and health insurance For your protection, students are required to have health insurance coverage while studying abroad. You’ll be automatically enrolled in USAC’s health insurance plan, which is included in the program fee and administered by Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI).

Mental and physical health The stress of travel and adjusting to unfamiliar situations can amplify existing conditions. USAC has special relationships with professional mental health care providers at many program sites. And virtual counseling is available for students to access directly.
