A SMILE WORTH SHARING How Orthodontic Treatment Boosted My Confidence

Over a decade ago, I met Dr. Alborzi for the first time. Little did I know this orthodontic appointment would be absolutely life- changing for me. My name is Sophie Mercado, and I currently work as a marketing intern for Dr. Alborzi. Orthodontic treatment had an incredibly positive impact on my life, and now, I’m ready to share my story with you!

each day, my dedication to wearing them was much easier than anticipated. Plus, they weren’t visible in any pictures, which made this a true win-win for me! Finally, at the age of 16, my crooked teeth had been transformed into a beautifully straight smile! I gained a level of confidence I had not possessed prior. At the end of my journey, I came out of my shell and began to feel amazing, showing off my smile

When I was 8 years old, I started to experience drastic overcrowding in my mouth and dealt with toothaches daily. While the pain

and discomfort were uncomfortable, I also struggled with insecurity issues stemming from my smile. I had just started competitive cheer and dance, which required me to show off my smile. My family and I knew I needed orthodontic treatment, but finding a provider proved difficult. Two different offices

It’s been a long journey, but I couldn’t be happier with how my smile looks today. I’m currently a student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where I’m studying marketing. Even after leaving for college, I wasn’t done with Dr. Alborzi yet! I enjoyed my time with her as a patient so much that I reached out to her for an internship this past summer. She agreed, and I’ve now had the privilege of being one of her patients and team members. I could not be more grateful for the smiles, laughs, and knowledge I’ve gained from Dr. Alborzi and her team.

turned me away due to the fact that my head and mouth were too small to start treatment. The overcrowding of both my baby and adult teeth complicated matters even further. Fortunately, one of my classmates referred me to Dr. Alborzi’s office. She was eager to help! I started wearing my bright pink set of brackets immediately, and before I knew it, I had completed the first phase of my

orthodontic treatment. My insecurities faded away, allowing me to show off my new smile to the entire world. However, my orthodontic treatment was not quite complete.

If you’re ready to start your journey toward a healthier and straighter smile, call Alborzi Orthodontics today! Dr. Alborzi changed my life for the better, and she can do the same for you!

When I started high school, I began wearing Invisalign to help straighten my smile. At the time, my parents’ primary concern was my commitment and dedication to my Invisalign aligners. Since I could easily clean, insert, and wear the aligners throughout

Join the Movement If you’re wearing Invisalign, you should change your aligners every 1–2 weeks, depending on what we instructed for your treatment plan. What are you doing with your used aligners? You might think the easiest solution is to throw them in the trash. We’re already throwing away an excessive amount of stuff; what’s one more little piece of plastic? However, used Invisalign trays are becoming a massive problem in the fight to reduce plastic waste.

Recycle Your Used Invisalign Trays to Combat Plastic Waste

find their way into our oceans, where they can be incredibly harmful to the environment.

The verdict is clear; we should not carelessly toss our aligners into the trash, but what should we do instead? We should make every effort to recycle them when we’re able to. Now, you might not be able to put them in your recycling bin at home, as most

recycling facilities are ill-equipped to handle aligners, which means they’ll likely end up in a landfill. That said, we are proud to participate in a recycling program and would be more than happy to take your used aligners off your hands. All you have to do is bring your used Invisalign trays to either of our offices and place them in the collection box. We can recycle your Invisalign clear aligners and the Invisalign aligner plastic bags. All we ask is that you rinse them out thoroughly before returning them to us to prevent odors.

Invisalign has transformed the smiles of millions of individuals. In our office alone, we’ve helped thousands of members of our community get the straighter smile they’ve always dreamed of. Imagine how much waste would accumulate if every Invisalign patient, or even just the patients from our office, were to throw away their aligners every week. It would add up quickly!

An estimated 25 million dental aligners end up in general waste landfills every year. This isn’t just Invisalign but refers to dental aligners made by all companies. These plastic aligners take hundreds of years to decompose. With time, they can

Together, we can make an effort to reduce the amount of plastic residing in our landfills and oceans.

CROSSING THE FINISH LINE:

You probably think it’s much easier to throw your old Invisalign aligners in the bin. After all, what’s a tiny bit of extra plastic trays in the scheme of things? However, used Invisalign trays are becoming a massive problem in the battle against plastic waste. Invisalign has transformed the smiles of over 10 million people (and counting!) It’s estimated that 25 million dental aligners end up in general waste landfills each year. That’s a lot of worn aligners potentially swimming in our oceans! We are proud to participate in a recycling program and invite you to drop off your old Invisalign trays into our collection box at either of our 2 locations.

Need to Get Significant Dental Treatment?

GET AN ORTHODONTIC CONSULTATION FIRST!

Unless you’re already in orthodontic treatment, you likely see your dentist much more regularly than an orthodontist. are going to want an orthodontic consultation before beginning treatment. When you lose a tooth, the teeth on both sides of the gap slowly shift inward. This can make it incredibly difficult for a dentist to place an implant. You’ll likely need orthodontic treatment to make room for the implant and shift your teeth into their normal position before beginning dental treatment.

It is impossible to reposition or shift an implant after the oral surgeon has placed it in the jaw and osseointegration has begun. Keep Yourself Safe While Traveling Alone

Traveling alone can be a memorable and adventurous experience — it’s a great way to step outside your comfort zone and continue learning about yourself. While solo travel is chock-full of exciting perks, staying alone in a hotel can be dangerous if you aren’t careful to take certain safety precautions. The next time you take a trip by yourself, keep these tips in mind!

KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED. Any time you leave your room, even if it’s just to scope out the vending machines, be alert for anyone watching or following you, and always keep your room number discreet. If you ever feel like someone is following you, get off on a different floor and avoid going to your room.

CHECK IN THE SMART WAY. When you check in to your hotel, always ask for two room keys — this way, hotel staff and anyone else in earshot will automatically assume someone else is traveling with you. If they ask how many guests will be staying with you, don’t admit you are alone. If you have the option, request a room that isn’t on the ground floor, as research shows they are the easiest to break into!

USE THE DEADBOLT. If the door in your room comes

equipped with a deadbolt, use it! This extra safety measure keeps even those with a key from entering your room without your knowing! SHARE THE HOTEL INFORMATION. Let your family and friends know where you are staying! Provide them with the hotel name, address, and phone number in case an emergency arises!

INSPECT YOUR ROOM. As soon as you enter the room, make a quick sweep to ensure no one is present in closets, in the shower, or under the bed and that nothing appears to be amiss. It’s always best to be safe rather than sorry!

Traveling solo is a thrilling experience, but it comes with some extra steps to stay safe! Trust your instincts and use these tips to ensure your trip goes down in the memory books as safe and exciting!
