The Violet Connection 7

God Continues to Use Summer Camp to Change Lives!

During the first week of June, 59 members of Overflow Youth headed to Crossings camp in Kentucky. Crossings is run in conjunction with the Kentucky Baptist Association, and they do camp extremely well. This summer there will be about 26,000 students who will experience camp at the various Crossings locations. Our group engaged in a wide variety of fun activities like Ziplines, fishing, archery tag, gaga ball, dodgeball, basketball, crafts, and much more! We were led in worship by Heartsong (a student worship band from Cedarville University). John Nix was our camp pastor. He serves as the Senior Pastor at The Orchard Church in Collierville, Tennessee. He led us in a weeklong exploration of the theme of “reconciliation.” A highlight of our week was hearing testimonies from several of our students who have overcome unbearable situations by the grace of God, and their faith in Jesus. Many of our students made decisions to take the next steps in their faith while at camp. Several of them are considering callings to missions or ministry. Others committed to following Christ in baptism. Still others have committed to step up and serve in various capacities at church. God still uses camp experiences to bring people to himself and to allow others to take significant steps of growth in their faith journey. While we are grateful for the work that God did in our group at Crossings, we might not know the full value of that week for years to come. To God be the glory!

Thanks, Pastor Keith
