SPOTLIGHT ON Parks Make Life Better might sound like just a fun summer slogan, but for anyone who’s ever watched their child learn to swim, cheered on a local team, or simply taken a quiet breath under a shady tree, it’s more than that. It’s a reminder of the very real impact parks and recreation have on our daily lives. Every July, we join agencies across California in celebrating the true power of parks, and not just the green spaces and playgrounds, but the programs, people, and possibilities that come with them. This July is Parks Make Life Better Month month is about more than recreation; it’s about connection. It’s about equity, wellness, and belonging. It’s about ensuring everyone has access to safe, welcoming spaces where they can play, learn, grow, and thrive. In Costa Mesa, we take this commitment seriously. We believe parks are essential, especially in the summer when our community comes alive with activity. From Camp Mini Explorers, Free Park Performances, Aquatics, Active Senior programming, and more, our parks are where memories are made, and community is built. That’s why we stand so proudly behind our simple yet powerful mission: We create memories for the Costa Mesa community through innovative and meaningful recreation and community services experiences. This July, we invite you to celebrate Parks Make Life Better Month with us: attend a program, visit a local park, or simply enjoy the spaces that help us feel connected to each other. In Costa Mesa, we don’t just believe parks make life better, we create it every day.
