China’s Huawei is on a long march to build a true industry ecosystem to support organisations’ digital transformation eorts through the cloud, reports Antony Savvas . As part of its eort, it is seeking new alliances that will generate the open standards and technologies to help develop “Cloud 2.0”

A t its annual Western announced that the “new ICT” market and corporate digital transformation eorts were now its prime objectives, as the communications giant seeks to further build up enterprise sales, which had already reached over $75bn in 2016. BUILDING AN ECOSYSTEM An open partner ecosystem for the development of this strategy is something that Huawei wants to focus on. The company said it will assist partners to construct an ecosystem that will be “independent” and “regenerative”, in other words continually evolve to meet the needs of both the communications industry and its end customers. In this vein, in addition to setting aside the $300m to support business

in others, to support the delivery of evolving business applications in the cloud. As part of its aspirations, Huawei has put aside $300m to support business pipeline development with Huawei partners. “There will be continuous research and development in the future to support the all optical networks required, covering silicon photonic chips and all optical cross connects,” said He. Software- defined networks (SDNs) will also play a leading role, he added.
