guages among the most primitive tribes of the world are very highly developed. The grammar may be very systematic, with many fine dis tinctions. So often we have the tendency to feel that someone’s language is in ferior just because it doesn’t sound like ours, and we’re not able to com municate in it. Christian friend, if you’ve ever been caught with an at titude like this ask God to show you that even He, Jesus Christ, God man ifest in the flesh, spoke a despised local dialect. Anyone who speaks such a language has a sympathetic partner in Jesus Christ. Indians of Latin America have been told for generations that their languages are no good and that they must learn Spanish or Portuguese. The estab lished church there has made it a point that if they would worship God, read the Bible or pray, it must needs be done in Spanish. How fool ish! There are no language barriers with God. He has so graciously promised, “Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” There are those who tell us, “Why bother with all those small tribes and their intracacies of speech?” In the Old Testament God told Israel, “I chose you not because you were the greatest in number of all the tribes. You are really small in numbers. I chose you because I loved you.” Lis ten, my friend, the Lord loves all the small tribes. Christ’s answer as far as size goes when He illustrated, “If a man has 100 sheep and one of them goes astray, he will go after that one.” Five percent of the world’s population speak these languages. But Jesus said He would go after one percent. We must get on with the job and quit quibbling over language differences and dialect insufficiency. Let us give these people His Word in the language they understand now!
