Since its first issue on January 7, 1985, BCN has pub- lished average prices PAID by various sources throughout the United States and Canada the week previous to issue. The prices are intended for reference purposes only and do not connote any commitment to sell any material at the indicated average. “We need to emphasize, as we always have, that BCN reports pricing based on what you, members of the in- dependent box making community, have told us – anon- ymously and with the strictest confidentiality – what the prices you paid should be,” said Prazych. “To ensure accu- racy, we are continuously seeking sources who are willing to contribute their input. Again, the process is anonymous. No one else will know what you are reporting.” Realizing that the prices integrated manufacturers are charging their independent box making customers con- tribute to the prices independents are paying, BCN will continue to report integrated price increases. For exam- ple, the recent wave of linerboard price increases report- ed by a variety of commodity and industry analysts con- firmed that Cascades, Georgia-Pacific, Pratt Industries and WestRock have raised their prices on domestic linerboard. “We hope our modified pricing chart and the information within it is helpful and as always, we welcome your input and suggestions,” said Prazych. “We will continue to honor our mission of being the only weekly source of news serv- ing the corrugated and folding carton industries – in print and online – for the next 40 years and beyond.”
