CK Cattle - Headquarters Sale [10/24/25]

Welcome to CK Cattle’s 11th Headquarters Sale,

It is a great time to be in the cattle business! It may be the best cattle market ever and shows no signs of backing off. Investing in improved cattle genetics may be the best decision you can make at this time. After reviewing my letters from the past ten years I see I have always discussed our weather pattern. This has been a tough year. Lots of rain early and an extended dry period late. We saw rain every day in May and June it seemed and we are dry right now. We are in our fourteenth year growing corn silage. I knew that sooner or later we would

face a major challenge. This was the year. It would not stop raining after we planted in May. At best we had an 80% stand on our prairie land and less than a 20% stand on our sandy land. This led to multiple plant dates which leads to multiple harvest dates. We planted Sorghum Sudan grass to salvage our fertilizer on quite a bit of land. We were fortunate to be able to purchase a neighboring farmer’s standing corn crop to ensure ample feed. I am thankful cattle can adjust to weather better than crops. We are blessed to be able to work on this land daily even when the circumstances are less than ideal.

Our cattle offering is similar to what we have offered in the past with a few more females. We do have a select group of higher percentage (25%) Chi bulls. They are hard to find and we accomplished this through an ET program. These bulls use heterosis and really add pounds to a calf crop. Thanks so all who make CK Cattle what it is today. We would not be able to accomplish what we do without our great customer base. God Bless.
