of Jim Crow and changing the name of our Fraternity we have been on a path to impact lives for the better. Altruism, the practice of concern for the welfare of others, has always been the mantra of every brother in our noble clan. That same impact has been carried by the GAC for over 60 years, and we rec- ognized not only the Divine Nine leaders and local chapters for their contribu- tions to service, but those who have helped us make an impact across Germany and the European continent for at least 60 years. Dr. Stacie NC Grant, International President, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was most pleased at the collective service and recognition hosted by the brothers of the GAC and amplified that we are stron- ger together in our quest of continued service. “Thank you to my dear friend and President Jimmy McMikle for this invitation and the hospitality of all the good brothers of Kappa,” said Grant. “I want to say what we do for the least of these is what counts. As we are here to celebrate your 60 years of your legacy in Germany, I applaud you for giving to those freely who really need that help. There

is an African proverb that says one coal cannot burn by itself, but a group of coals can burn collectively. The light that we are shining collectively as the D9 is not lost on us, that you invited us all to be here to create history, and to show not just with words but through actions that we truly are not only stronger together, but we get to transform communities and lives back in the States and abroad. With over 2.5 million of us if we get it right, none of our communities should be suffering because we’re honoring the vision and mission of our founders. Just know that the Finer Woman will always be here to share your glow and making this world a better place.”

As the celebration of 60 years of service concluded, the GAC recognized the newly initiated brothers in the chapter that will carry on that service. Emerson Grimes, Kenneth Butler, and Sean Barnes were newly ini- tiated as brothers in Spring 2024 on May 8, 2024. The brothers received the astute privilege of having not only majority of the IHQ leadership present to receive and welcome them, but eight of nine D9 leaders there to provide words of wisdom and greet them just two days after completion of their long journey into Kappa Land. “I’m very grateful for this opportunity,” said Brother Grimes. “It’s been said over and over that becoming a

Kappa man is a once in a lifetime opportunity, but we’ve been told over and over again that having all these people here like this is historic. We’ll never forget this, and we appreciate everything.” Grand Polemarch McMikle deemed this historic event 60 Years of Service for a reason. Under his leadership programs such as Learn to Live and Greeks Learning to Avoid Debt have thrived and serve not only its members, but our communities as a whole. Recognizing the GAC as a military chapter that serves their European community two-fold, he chose service as the highlight for this monumental anniversary celebration. ♦
