environment where students not only excel academically but also grow as individuals and leaders. This is about enhancing the educational experience and ensuring that Grambling remains a beacon of excellence in higher education.” Reflecting on his journey, Dr. Lemelle is both humbled and inspired by the path that has led him to the presidency. As a Byron K. Armstrong Scholar in 2006, he set ambitious goals—one of which was to become either a U.S. Congressman or a college president. “Looking back, I can truly say that my vision has come full circle,” Dr. Lemelle says. “In the words of Habakkuk 2:2-3, ‘This vision is for a future time … It will surely take place. It will not be delayed.’ My journey has been one of perseverance and dedication, and becoming President of Grambling State University is a direct result of the hard work, support of

mentors, and the trust placed in me by my community.” For Dr. Lemelle, this moment represents not only personal achievement, but the fulfillment of a collective dream shared by those who mentored him and the institution he now leads. “Becoming president is the culmination of years of hard work and growth. It’s a testament to vision, determination, and the invaluable support of my mentors. Now, as I take on this role, I do so with a deep sense of responsibility, knowing that I have the honor of shaping the future of Grambling State University—a university with a rich legacy of excel- lence,” he says with a sense of both pride and humility.

His family’s long tradition in the fraternity, which spans over four decades, has influenced his approach to leadership in profound ways. His father, Martin Lemelle, Sr. (Grambling (LA) AL 1986), and his brother, Dennis D. Lemelle (Gram- bling (LA) AL 2022), underscore the legacy of excellence that runs through the Lemelle family. As Dr. Lemelle steps into his role as the 11th President of Grambling State University, he remains guided by the same principles that have defined his journey; a commitment to service, a dedication to mentorship, and a deep respect for the community. His leader- ship is a testament to the lasting impact of Kappa Alpha Psi on his life, and his vision for Grambling State University promises to continue the legacy of excellence for generations to come. ♦
