St Michael Athletic 2020 Spring Media Guide

The STM Spring Athletic Media Guide features the Spring Sports and Athletes of St. Michael Catholic High School for the year 2020. We Thank all the STM Sponsors who are featured in the Athletic guide.

Cardinal Athletics Spring 2020

Dear Parents, Friends and Supporters,

Well, one day we’ll look back on all this and tell stories about the “Spring of 2020,” perhaps with some smiles and laughter. For now, however, we’ve canceled our spring athletic season, and my heart goes out to our athletes. I have a special sadness for our seniors, whose high school careers have come to such an abrupt end. Even so, stepping back a bit from the immediate concerns of the day, I am proud of our student athletes, who have so evidently grown as young men and women. Aside from the fun, camaraderie, and school pride that participation in sports engenders, its most lasting effect is the virtue it builds in our kids. Putting others before self, working hard in the present for a game in the future, learning how to handle disappointing losses and glorious victories with grace, class and a grateful spirit—all of these things help teens become better students, better employees, better fathers and mothers and one day, better people. I see that growth in them. I think we all do! I am grateful for the tremendous support our athletic program has enjoyed since our inception. This morning I surveyed the construction site where our field house is being built, which will include two locker rooms each for males and females, a weight room, coaches’ offices, bathrooms and showers. It’s going to be special! My thanks to all who gave to the “Bringing Our Cardinals Home” campaign last year to make this happen, and to all of our sponsors, coaches and volunteers who help us run our athletic programs.

ONWARD AND UPWARD, CARDINALS! Faustin Weber Principal, St. Michael Catholic High School

Hello Cardinal fans, Welcome to St. Michael Catholic High School. We are extremely excited about our fourth year as a school community. This is our second year to compete as a full member of the Alabama High School Athletic Association. We have brought in a new class of ninth graders to take the place of our first graduating class from last spring. As a reflection of this growth, our athletic department has seen many positive changes. All of our coaches and student athletes have worked through the summer and the beginning of this school year to prepare for their seasons. Coach Phelps and his assistants, Coach Cortopassi, Coach Lopez, Coach Dupre, and Coach Agostinelli, have been excellent mentors for our young football team. Coach Williams and Coach Barr have done the same for the volleyball program. Coach Kristy Adamski and her husband, Coach Chris Adamski, are ready to lead our swimmers & divers to another great season. The Cardinal cross country team will take to the course under the leadership of Coach Hall and Coach Lindley. Coach Mavar’s cheer squad has also put in a full summer of preparation for this season. These young ladies do a great job of getting the crowd behind our teams. We are pleased to add two new teams to our athletic department this year. This fall our first ever middle school football team and middle school cheer squad will take to the field. Coach Daniel Nolan, who is assisted by Coach BrianDaughtery, &CoachHayden McKeough, will lead the 7th & 8th graders from Christ the King, St. Benedict, & St. Patrick as one team. Coach Lori Bauldin has worked with our middle school cheer team to help prepare them for the season. Thank you for your support of Cardinal Athletics. Our athletic programs would not be possible without the support of our boosters, corporate sponsors, and the families in our community. All of the sponsors represented in this media guide have committed to furthering Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Mobile and specifically in Baldwin County. Please support their businesses whenever possible. Their contributions have helped our teams in many ways. Please enjoy the game. Again, these are exciting times at St. Michael Catholic High School. On behalf of our administration, teachers, coaches, and student athletes I would like to thank you again for your support of the St. Michael athletic programs. We will always strive for excellence both on the field and in the classroom. We look to build on the great foundation that was laid in our first three years.
