Together with this capability, the ChromaCUT XPro’s “Easy Job Change” feature interfaces with all peripheral equipment in the line, setting up these pieces as well for near instantaneous order changes. When two similar jobs can be processed without changing die-cutting tools, the ChromaCUT X Pro’s “Flying Job Change” feature permits non-stop changeovers, which can accommodate the box maker’s demand for Just-In-Time production of ever short- ening runs. “No doubt about it, one of the things we like most about the ChromaCUT X Pro is the added production time we get back due to the super-fast changeovers, which has given us an impressive increase in production,” said John Astill, Strategic Project Manager at Cepac Rawcliffe, who men- tioned that the machine’s capacity surpasses that of two “redundant” Ward rotary die cutters the X Pro replaced. “We’ve only been running since February of 2022 and are still learning about this remarkable machine that is al- ready exceeding expectations. We expect those produc- tion levels to increase as we become more adept at fully exploiting its many features.” Achieving and maintaining optimum speeds are en- hanced by a Dücker pre-feeder on the front end of the ChromaCUT X Pro and an Avanti Pegasus separator and bundling system on the back end, where printed and die- cut sheets are prepared and sent to the folding and gluing CONTINUED ON PAGE 28
uum Stacker which transports die cut sheets individually, avoiding jamming and scrap issues as when sheets are shingled. The line can achieve the highest possible output of large-format, multi-out sheets running at speeds up to 12,000 sheets per hour while achieving virtually perfect die cutting and print quality.
The machine at Cepac has been fitted with four flexo printing units and the high board line configuration means the machine can be running one multi-color job while the John Astill, Strategic Project Manager at Cepac Rawcliffe, points out one of the many processes that can be monitored on the ChromaCUT X Pro.
