COMPARE AND COUNT Math Standard: Compares Numbers and Quantities

 DECIDE WHO HAS MORE Use blocks, counters, or other small objects to play a game. Put a set in front of you and a set in front of your child. Without counting, ask your child to tell who has more and who has less. Then count to see if your child’s guess was correct.

LITERACY Standard: Understands Spoken Language  ASK AND ANSWER QUESTIONS Ask your child who , what , when , where , and why questions: “Who did you play with at school today?” “What happened after lunch?” “Where were you when you lost your umbrella?” When your child asks you questions, say, “I can see from your question that you are really thinking.” Then answer the question. SCIENCE Standard: Asks Questions and Observes  OBSERVE THE WORLD Encourage your

ART Standard: Participates in Dramatic Play  ACT IT OUT Suggest ideas for pretend play that encourage imagination. Say: “Let’s pretend we’re going on a treasure hunt! Where will we look? What will we find?” PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT Standard: Develops Large Motor Skills and Healthy Habits  EXERCISE Avoid too much screen time and take your child to playgrounds, parks, or other outdoor areas. Encourage your child to exercise by using the climbing bars, the swings, and the other playground equipment. Running, hopping, and jumping are also good exercise.
