WORK ... AND PLAY
Work and play don’t usually go together, but this past month, I had the chance to sneak in some fun with my business travel. Just a few weeks ago, I traveled down to Orlando, Florida, to accept an award. Ever since completing a nine- month dental implant program back in 2013, I had decided to pursue a fellowship credential from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). The fellowship credential from the ICOI is obtained by completion
Magic Kingdom when they were younger, being able to experience Disney through the eyes of my 3-year-old, Finn, was a joy for all of us. Even in the past few years, technology has advanced to allow near-robotic surgery precision, healing times that are 200 percent faster, and even an all-new set of teeth in only a few hours. I truly believe this is the golden age of medicine, but to be honest, this was not the highlight of the trip, either. of formal training, as well as submitting documentation of 20 cases followed over at least a two-year period. As an aside, I wish to thank all of you who put up with me collecting extra photos and X-rays of your implants the past couple years for this purpose! While the fellowship credential is something I have worked toward for the past two years, I cannot say it was the highlight of my trip. After realizing the award was presented in Orlando on Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend, Margaret and I decided to turn a work trip into a quick family getaway, complete with a stop at Disney World. While Eloise and Teddy had both been to
Margaret and the kids at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom (or “Pet Kingdom,” according to Finn) turned out to be more memorable than any fellowship award!
