FBA Announces Winners Of 2025 Safety Innovation Awards At the annual FBA Meeting in La Jolla, California in April, the 2025 Safety Innovation Awards honored facilities that demonstrated exceptional commitment to reducing risk and strengthening safety culture. These awards recognize teams whose ideas delivered practical, measurable safety improvements. The 2025 Safety Innovation Award winners include: • Menasha Packaging, Madera, California: The Made- ra team earned recognition for implementing pres- sure-sensitive safety mats to prevent unexpected roll arm movement. This solution directly addressed struck- by hazards through an effective engineering control while maintaining efficient machine operation. • Menasha Packaging, Richmond, Indiana: The Rich- mond facility was recognized for its comprehensive, hands-on ergonomic and safety training program for new employees. By embedding safe behaviors and proper techniques from the first day on the job, the team proactively reduced injury risk and reinforced a strong safety foundation. • Georgia-Pacific, Denton, Texas: Georgia-Pacific’s Den- ton site implemented an automated pedestrian cross- ing system to better manage interactions between pe- destrians and mobile equipment. The system improved visibility, standardized crossing behavior, and reduced MOPED-related risk through automation and clear physical controls. • Atlantic Packaging, Ontario Region Facilities: The On- tario Region facilities were recognized for forming a cross functional task force focused on dock and ware- house safety. Through standardized pedestrian routes, physical separation, and detection technologies, the initiative delivered consistent hazard reduction across multiple locations. FBA and AICC, The Independent Packaging Associa- tion recognized 426 corrugated industry plants for safety achievements in 2025. The associations presented 177 Perfect Plant Awards to plants achieving zero incidents. An additional 249 facilities received Safety Excellence Awards for achieving no lost workdays due to job-related injury or illness. Safety Awards are given based on data compiled for the recently released 2025 Corrugated Container Indus- try Annual Report of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses . The report provides detailed data for more than 170 million hours worked at 715 participating plants. It also in- cludes trend information presented in graphs for record- able cases, restricted duty cases, and days away from work. Award winners are presented as a percentage of total plant participation, and the Safety Award Winners page serves as a great summary of achievements. Visit: fibrebox.org .
