Henry Brothers is the 2022 winner of the GB & ROI Construction Award, Above £2.5m for its work on the first carbon neutral building at Woodlands Day Nursery & Forest School, Staffordshire University. In a hotly contested category, which saw the largest number of entries than seen in previous years, the Judges praised the contractor’s value engineering process that enabled the client to keep costs to the level of a traditional build, despite this project’s unique sustainability features. The contractor collaborated with the client as a team to produce a building which was described as more challenging than significantly larger projects. WINNER: DAWSON-WAM HS2 SCS AREA WEST – RAIL INFRASTRUCTURE, LONDON
The GB / ROI below £2.5m was a hotly contested category with a variety of different schemes. The winning project saw specialist civil engineering and piling contractor DAWSON- WAM – an SME from Northern Ireland – bring its workforce to England to deliver on time, and within budget, an enabling works project delivering part of Europe’s largest construction site at HS2. The contractor worked in collaboration with the consortium to overcome some difficult ground conditions. Innovations were brought to this project and these have been incorporated into other schemes here and in GB.
