The North Caicos Island is known as the lushest of all the islands and is commonly known as “the breadbasket of Turk p and Caicos”, since straw work is uniquely and commonly practiced on the island. Local agriculturalists expert in the harvest of callaloo, okra, plantains, and sweet potato which are sold throughout the Turks and Caicos. The Island is also home to an extensive population of exotic birds and many sanctuaries and nature reserves. The iguanas on the beaches of East Bays Cays are an extraordinary sight and beautiful example of the biodiversity on the green islands of North and Middle Caicos.
