by Jean Miettunen Do you sometimes become dis couraged over the “ big” words you find when you read or study your Bible? Don’t allow these “ big” words to stand in the way o f letting the Bible become THE BOOK in your life. God had you and other young children as well as grown-ups in mind when He inspired the men who wrote His Word, the Bible. Other wise why did He have them use so many “ little” easy-to-read-and-un- derstand three, four and five-letter words in His Book? Little words, but so packed with power and mean ing. Let’s think about a few o f the five-letter words that come quickly to mind even before we open our Bibles to find others. H ow about Jesus? Who could ask for a better “ little” word to start off the list? Yet how precious and meaningful. And doesn’t His name and all He stands for cause you to think of many more lovely words (all hav ing just five letters) such as saves, grace, faith, mercy, glory, cross, favor, serve, crown and truth? These are only a beginning. Take pencil and paper and on one side o f the sheet write down all the “ good” five- letter words you know or can find in your Bible. Opposite this first column (try for at least fifty such words) make a second column, this time writing down the five-letter words that come to mind when we think about sin. Let’s start this list off with Satan himself. Right away his name brings to mind such “little” words as enemy, pride, flesh, false, death, guilt, blind, steal, doubt and covet. My! what a contrast to the words in our first list which attract us and are lovely to use and think upon. Whereas the second list words repel us, making us think o f all the evil things that sin denotes or stands for. Now. that you’re off to such a good start why not go on and make lists of the three and four-letter words found in your Bible? You’ll find lots of these too, both positive and negative. Each time you open your Bible now, you’ll be reminded just how often God had YOU in mind when He caused His Word to be written. He especially wants His “ little ones” to hear Him speaking when they read His Word in order to learn His will fo r them.

The sun was very hot as Joseph started his trek again, but the boy shivered as if he were cold. He staggered from dizziness as he walked. He knew he was sick and that he could die in this bush country. No one would find him for many days. There were many dangers besides the wild beasts he feared so much. Joseph thought of his people who died from disease without Christ. He knew sometimes the mosquito in the jungle could give people malaria from its bite. Ly ing down, he covered himself with leaves, too weak even to climb a tree for safety.

L "I Wanna Mommy and a Daddy!” This was the heart cry of Faith, seen above, only a few years ago. She never knew her mother or father. Her first few months were spent in a Korean orphan age. So her heart cry for ‘‘A Mommy and a Daddy” was perfectly normal. Fortun ately, her heart cry was answered. Since 1960, she has been in a fine Christian home, the home of Rev. and Mrs. Rollin Wilson. Today, sh e j o y f u l l y c r i e s “Mommy! Daddy!” whenever the Wilsons appear. But there are hundreds of other girls (and boys too) like Faith who do not have "Mommys and Daddys.” Unfortun ately, these other boys and girls still live in crowded orphanages. Since 1956, Holt Adoption Program has placed over 4200 Korean orphans in homes in all 50 states. But more “Mommys and Daddys” are needed. Will you think about it? And pray about it? Imagine the joy that could come to you as well as to some lone some girl like Faith (or a boy) if you and your husband opened your home and hearts to adopt one of these little ones as your very own?
