ProAmpac Receives Patents For Recyclable Packaging

Walmart Targets (CONT’D FROM PAGE 37)

Walmart also said that 82 percent of its global pri- vate-brand plastic packaging is designed for recycling. Walmart largely attributed increases in the weight of virgin plastic use to growth in product categories like food. It says it reduced its overall plastic packaging inten- sity, when measuring weight of plastic per net sales dollar. According to Walmart’s reporting to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, virgin weight totaled nearly 1.07 million metric tons in 2023.

Flexible packaging company ProAmpac, Cincinnati, Ohio, has been issued a patent for its ProActive Sustainability recyclable and recycle-ready packaging technologies. The patents cover several of the company’s innovations, including: • Recyclable R-2000 Series and R-2050 Series, which offers heat resistance, strong sealing, high clarity, dura-

bility and range of options for dry and frozen food, snacks, liquids, and pet treats and kibble. • Recyclable

R-1200, a mo- no-web platform for dry food products that offers high heat resistance, clar- ity and directional tear abilities. • Recycle Ready RT-4000, a high-performance and ul- tra-high-barrier, recycle-ready retort pouch designed to maintain its barrier throughout filling and retorting and en- sure shelf life. • Recyclable TearLite Pouches, laminated pouches with built-in scoring to allow for directional tearing.

“While we continue to work toward reducing waste, progress depends on many factors outside our control, in- cluding emergence and scalability of innovative more-re- cyclable materials, public policy for materials management systems, infrastructure development (especially to sup- port recyclable and compostable materials), and societal behavior change,” Walmart wrote. Making a Pact Walmart also participates in the U.S. Plastics Pact, which last year largely pushed collective 2025 goals to 2030. Those shared goals include reducing virgin plastic use by 30 percent; eliminating “problematic and unnecessary” materials; recycling half of all plastic packaging; averaging 30percent PCR or responsibly sourced biobased content across all plastic packaging; making all plastic packaging recyclable, reusable or compostable; and more. Registration Opens For Labelexpo Southeast Asia 2025 Registration is now open for Labelexpo Southeast Asia 2025, which scheduled to take place May 8-10 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC). Labelexpo Southeast Asia 2025 is set to be 50 per- cent larger than previous editions, expanding to more than 6,000 square meters of floor space with the addition of a new hall. More than 170 exhibitors will be taking part.
