New Castle County Executive Marcus Henry, sworn in on January 7, 2025 as the 13th County Executive, spoke to a large attendance of over 150 members and guests at CIRC’s March 13 lunch meeting held at the DuPont Country Club. Henry discussed his many years in public service and follows in the footsteps of his mother, Senator Margaret Rose Henry, which drew loud applause. He recounted a background that includes he and is wife being owners of a growing regional business and his deep industry understanding as a commercial real estate owner. He shared information about various matters facing the county, as well as anwering many questions about the current reassessment process, for which the formal appeals deadline was just extended to March 31 from the 14th. He also assured everyone that they can appeal annually if they are not satisfied with the current valuation of their commercial or residential property. Members were also glad to meet Jeff Buhrman, the new Director of Economic Development for New Castle County .
