PERSONALITIES M usic as a ministry for the Lord has been beautifully expressed by this month’s disc personality Her man Voss. This talented organist, whose records appear on the Zonder- van Victory and Singspiration labels, is a native of Muskegon, Michigan. In his early days he showed great prom ise of becoming a console artist. With natural ability as a sight reader, he was able to play the most difficult classical music at an unusally early age. H ERM AN VOSS Herman enrolled at the Moody Bible Institute, in Chicago, Illinois where his creative and distinctive stylings were used in meetings and rallies. When he was graduated, he accepted a position as staff organist for Radio Station WMBI, broadcasting voice of Moody in the Windy City. After several years of radio work, he began travelling extensively in concert and evangelistic ministry. During this time he composed many gospel songs in addition to making arrangements of hundreds of hymns, and other Christian music for piano, organ, and choir. A number of records have been pro duced with Herman playing the fam ous pipe organ which was located in the WGN, Chicago studios. Listeners to his records enjoyed the unique styl ings through an excellent choice of combinations by which he produced tones all the way from a whisper to the great crescendos. His ability to create these same effects on the elec tronic organs of today has also shown a gifted tastefulness in Gospel music. A welcome addition to any Chris tian home music library is that by Herman Voss, available at all Chris tian record stores, or from the Biola Book Room, 560 South Hope Street in Los Angeles.
