LFN Open House Boards

NUUAUTIN IR 2B SUBDIVISION PROJECT SUMMARY In 2023 the subdivision project was initiated through funding from Indigenous Services Canada. In Winter 2024, Aplin Martin was selected to complete the subdivision design and water system improvement design, and prepare the tender package for construction. A 56-lot subdivision design has been completed, and 28 homes will be constructed in the subdivision in 2025. To ensure safe and reliable access to the site, Alkali Road will receive a full upgrade including full width asphalt surfacing, gravel shoulders, and drainage provisions.

WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT PROJECT SUMMARY A significant portion of LFN reserve land receives domestic water and fire protection from the Stein Water System. The water system draws water from the Stein River, treats this water, and delivers it across a vast area of LFN reserves on the west and east sides of the Fraser River. Prior to the wildfire, this water system was operating near capacity. With the addition of new development resulting from the wildfire recovery as well as the proposed new subdivision, the water system needs to be upgraded.

Key features for the 28 new homes are:

The upgrades will include:

New underground water reservoir and new pump system to service the subdivision;

On-site sanitary treatment (septic system);

Upgrades to the existing water treatment system and pump stations; and

Snake fencing around each lot for safety; and

New water main connection to the subdivision, and tie-in to the existing system.

Fire smart design safety features.
