Changing the name does not change the disposition. These royal youths were true noble men. When Daniel took the pledge he wrote it in Jus heart. A man won’t starve on pure water and a clear conscience. Examination day is sure to come, whgn we must stand before the King. Only four of all the captives stood for God, but all these four youths won the prize. Daniel treats of the “chief end of man,”-—to seek the glory of God; it presents four men who did it—Dan iel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; and four who sought their own glory, —Nebuchadnezzar (4:30-32); Bel shazzar (5:22, 23); Darius (6:6-9); and Antichrist (7:23-25).
