SPRINGTIME GARDENING

Within a barren plot ot ground Where only weeds and clods were iound. Today I planted loveliness. Beauty which will come to bless These who passing-, pause to see Nature's prodigality. Strange that small brown seeds can held Crimson, sapphire, rose and gold. Colors Haunting, haunting, gay, Perfumes lavished night and day. Loved by little flying things. Butterflies with jeweled wings. Cardens are a winsome sight In which our Lord must take delight; And yet this beauty all will pass. And wither some day as the grass. If I had planted my seed hhd In some neglected soul instead. And tilled and tended. Cod would bring His miracle of blossoming. And mark these seedlings of His leye To beautify His courts above. Where they, transplanted tenderly. Would bloom throughout eternity!

30 MILLION BIBLES will be needed to supply Russians within the U.S.S.R. after the war ends. The R.M.S. printed the largest edition ever issued (81,000) in Russian which is exhausted. NOW WE NEED tens of thousands of Russian New Testa ments and Psalms for prisoners in Internment camps to read and take back to Russia after the armistice. The work is productive and profitable. In World War I—646 Russian soldiers were converted in one camp alone; thousands all told. Our'missionary in. Paris writes us: “I have sent out 500 Russian Bibles to camps in. Germany ,and France.” Further informa tion in; the “Friend of Russians,” sample free on request. How many Russians will you -send back to Russia as Christians? A Christian Face

; ! Isa. 50:7 A scholarly American lawyer, a lecturer of great a b i l l t y against Christianity, came to the officers Of a Presbyterian church for membership, and gave a full confession of faith in Christ. The p a s t o r then asked in amaze-. ment what had wrought the con viction. "Judge Tate’s face,” the lawyer replied. "I was struck with a something in his -'face,, which I couldn’t comprehend, nor account for; it was a light, or a peace, or an intangible but very real-something, I could not tell just what. But it caught me tremendously. I went to see him repeatedly,' ostensibly for legal consultation. We never talked about religious things. I studied his face, as I would any bit of evidence, and the conviction be came irresistible that the thing that so affected his face was his faith in Christ. I sifted the thing through. There was a fact; it was a new thing to me;- I had never run across it in my study of Christian evidences. It c o n vinced me of the truth of Chris, tianity. I wanted to be honest; so I have gladly acceped Christ.”
