[ Continued from Page 147] QUE .: Was Peter ever in Rome? If so, when and under what cir cumstances ? There is no reference in the New Testament to Peter’s having gone to Rome at any time. Some commenta* tors state that the reference made in I Peter 5:13 to the church “at Baby, ion” may be construed to allude to the church in Rome; and that th e wording of the verse proves that Peter was there (in Rome) at the time he wrote his. first Epistle. Followers of the Catholic faith hold to the tradi tion that Peter preached the gospel in Rome, and that he suffered martyr dom there during Nero’s persecution of the Christians. This is a debatable question upon which the Scripture sheds no light. QUE .: Did Cain, Abel and Seth have bodies like those which Adam and Eve had before the Fall? From thestandpoint of physical, bodily structure, this question may be answered in the affirmative. Accord ing to Genesis 2:7, God formed man of the dust of the ground. From Adam and Eve all mankind has inherited a human body. For instance, Elihu said, “I also am formed out of the clay” (Job 33:6). In Job 4:17-19 we read of the unreliability of man who dwells “in houses of clay.” Again, in Job 33:15 are these words, “Man shall turn again to dust.” “All are of the dust, and all turn to dust again” are the words of inspiration in Ecclesiastes 3:20. From these Scriptures, we con clude that concerning physical fea tures, the bodies of Cain, Abel and Seth were like those of Adam and Eve before the Fall. In another sense, however, It would seem that the bodies of all men after Adam and Eve sinned differed from those of the first man and woman be fore they fell prey to Satan’s guile. That difference lies in three major points: (1) The bodies of Adam and Eve before the Fall were sinless; those of mankind after the Fall were sin ful (cf. Rom. 3:23; 5:'12; 1 Cor. 15:49). (2) At the time of the sin of the first man, death, disease and pain entered into the physical body and have passed on to1all human beings. The present way of leaving the earth is by physical death (cf. Heb. 9:27). (3) Before the Fall the glory of God fqrmed the clothing for the bodies of Adam and Eve (Geri. 3:7). Just what that glory was we cannot say, but we know that when sin entered in, the glory was removed and Adam and Eve realized that they were unclothed. Since then, human beings have worn material clothing.

His Life in Us “For ye were as sheep going astray; buj are now returned unto the Shepherd . . . of your souls” (1 Pet. 2:25). The more we rest on this fact— that we do not know the way we are going, but that we have a Guide who does know; that we do not know how to accomplish our serv ice, but that He never leaves us to devise our own service—the more restful does our life become. Then we find we have just to do this—to look to our Saviour, to be filled with be filled with His perfections. —J. Hudson Taylor.
