THE K I N G ’S B U S I N E S S or construct” out of something already in existence. The distinction between these two words will be noted in Gen. 2:3 where we read th a t God rested from “all his work which he had cre ated and made.” The body of man He had fashioned; th e life principle He had created. The same distinction is shown in Isa. 45:18 where we find th a t God not only created th e ea rth originally, bu t ‘formed” anjl “ established” it. We th in k it ¡well to adm it th a t we do not know all about th e past eternities, and indeed, most of our brains are in a whirl as we try to contemplate th e vast . record 'covering the history of man. P erh ap s eternity will discover to us an unlim ited field of research along these lines. “ Anyway, w'e feel th a t Mr. Fountain was not altogether w ithout basis for his statem ents and th a t in stead of his “ failing to tak e th e Al mighty a t H is word,” as B rother Cole says, th a t is exactly^ what he did, K. seem to indicate th a t somewhere in th e dateless past the earth had undergone a change as th e resu lt of some divine judgm ent. The fact th a t we do not have anything in th e Bible of the his tory of the earth prior to Gen. 1:2 should not necessarily lead us to think th a t God had had no dealings w ith th e earth prior to about 6,000 years ago, when He formed man as a new inhabi-' tant. The face of the earth everywhere shows the resu lt of some tremendous upheaval in past ages, not to be accoun ted for by anything th a t has happen ed w ithin the history of man. Geologi cal findings, the remains of animals of g reat size, unknown either to th e his-: tory of man or th e Genesis records, would clearly show th ere had a t some tim e been upon th e earth an entirely different order of creation from th a t which now exists. We believe th a t the whole question of th e extreme .age of some of th e geological specimens would be found to be in no conflict w ith Gene sis if it would be recognized th a t there may be a Vast expanse of tim e between th e first two verses of th e Bible. Scrip tu re teaches th a t somewhere in th e past th ere had been a testing and fall of angelic beings, and th a t Satan, with disobedient hosts, was cast out of hea ven. Many Bible students believe th a t th ere is- some connection h ere w ith this earth and th e apparent cataclysmic judgm ent th a t came upon it as in tim at ed by Scripture and abundantly shown by geologists. It is held' by many scholars th a t verse 3 of Genesis 1 begins th e story of an entirely new order of creation, and th is is borne out by the fact th a t th e He brew word for “C reate” (b ara) used in verse 1 is no t used of th e new order except of hum an and animal life. The word means “to come into existence out of nothing.” The word used of th e new order established in the six days’ work is “asah,” meaning “to fashion, shape
