T HE K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S they brought lambs, goats and cattle as offerings. The priests killed the lambs ànd goats and cattle, sprinkled the blood on the a lta r and burned the bodies. ■ ' ,, You know away back in th e Garden of Eden God had told Adam and Eve, “The soul th a t sinneth it shall die.” Adam and Eve did sin, bu t God told them th a t certain kinds of animals could be killed in th e ir place. (Tell the children about th e children of Israel going out of Egypt, and th e Passover night, when God said, “When I see th e blood I will pass over you.” ) When they brought th e ir offerings to th e Temple, and confessed th e ir sins, then God forgave th eir sins. Bo we need to offer lam bs,’or goats, or cattle for our sins now? (John 1:29. “Behold thè Lamb of God which, tak eth away the sin of' the world.” ) Jesus is otìt- Lam frv-our sin-offering. T h at was why th ere were so many sheep- and cattle around th e Temple, it was all rig h t to have them there, but some of the people who owned them were so greedy to make money from selling them , th a t they brought them rig h t into the Temple c o u rt (or y ard ). When Jesu s went up to the Temple and saw what they had done, it made Him very sad. W hat did He do? (Made a whip and drove them out.) What did He say? Does God want a, clean house? Where do we worship God now? (In ,churches.) Does He like to have these churches used for dancing, mov ing pictures and such* things? Does God have any o ther temples now, be sides churches? (In our h earts.) (1, Cor. 3:16.) Does He want to have a clean house in which to live? How can we keep it clean? (1 John 1:9.) Every night, then, we ought to con fess our sins and ask Him to forgive us and cleanse us; and every morning, ask Him to- kéep our hearts clean th at day.

th e most fru itfu l,. “We have heard for ourselves.” v. 40. “He abode there two days.” W hat is this? Two days a guest in a Sam aritan village! Did we not read above, “ Jews have no dealings w ith S am aritans” ? But Jesus had dealings w ith them . P erhap s if we could be two days in th e home of our Sam aritans we would th ink b etter of them and they of us. Where do you read of another, years later, who “went down to th e city of Samaria and proclaimed u,nto them the Christ * * * and th ere was much joy in th a t city” ? ' ’ ’ . (The teach er will no t fail, of course, to have th e story thoroughly in mind herself, and then m ake th e pictu re for the Children. There is never any diffi culty in holding the attention, either of “grown-ups” or children, if we can ju st p ain t word pictures and then, by skillful questioning get them to fill in the de tails themselves.) Today we have th e story of A House- Cleaning. People used to clean house every fall and spring, take everything out in the yard, beat the carpets and rugs, wash the windows, etc., b u t this was a different kind of a house,—God’s House. (Tell the children briefly about the Temple a t Jerusalem , and how the. people were gathered from all over the country a t a g reat feast which was being held there.) The Temple was th e place which God had set ap art for His worship. When people worshipped God in the Temple, THE JUNIORS A HOUSE-CLEANING John 2:13-25
