GASKETS
Common Materials for Flat Cut Gaskets: These are generally available in thicknesses of 0.4mm, 0.8mm, 1.6mm, and 3.2mm.
Sheet size is 1500mm x 1500mm (1500mm x 2000mm on request).
Expanded PTFE sheet. This material requires low
Rubber: Neoprene rubber.
compressive loads to seal, can resist temperatures of -260°C, to +260°C and is an exotic material impervious to most chemicals. Acid and chemical resistant, it is a popular choice for electrical insulation.
Neoprene has good chemical stability, and maintains flexibility over a wide temperature range. It is used in a wide variety of applications, mostly where water is involved.
Insertion rubber.
Insertion rubber has good physical properties, some abrasion resistance and low temperature flexibility. It is manufactured with cotton reinforcement, to improve tear resistance and tensile strength. It is a good general purpose rubber, and is often used where water is involved.
Compressed Fibre Material
Non Asbestos - a wide range of fibre gasket materials and thicknesses to cover most gasket
Nitrile rubber.

This form of synthetic rubber is generally resistant to oil, fuel, and other chemicals. It is used extensively in petro-chemical industries.

Potable EPDM rubber.
Potable EPDM meets the NZ and Australian AS/NZ4020 Standard. Shuk is the biggest stockist of this rubber in NZ. The main properties of EPDM are its outstanding heat, ozone and weather resistance. The resistance to polar substances and steam is also good. It has excellent electrical insulating properties. It is not suitable for fuels and oils. This rubber is characterised by a wide range of applications. It is used in seals, hosing, electrical insulation, and is also used as a medium for water resistance in electrical cable jointing, roofing membranes, geomembranes, rubber mechanical goods, plastic impact modification, thermoplastic, vulcanisates, and in many other applications.
Cork
Nitrile Binded Cork in transformer grade quality. 1049 sealing material is compounded with Nitrile (NBR) rubber. This product is suitable for most transformer oils at application temperatures.
Viton rubber.
The key characteristic of this product is its ability to withstand higher temperatures and to resist a wide range of concentrated chemicals and acids.
