PAYROLL PETS

Modern life is incredibly busy. Combining work and home life can be a balancing act, and recently, we’ve all been exposed to considerable uncertainty. Pets can really help our mental well-being and help us find some solace and stability in difficult times. We asked you, the payroll professionals, to show us your pets.

Here are just a few of your wonderful furry and feathered friends...

Name: Mike Sent by: Alicia Turner MCIPPdip, payroll co-ordinator, Fenner Precision Polymers “I couldn’t stay sane without this little old fella – our 15-year-old cat, Mike. Everyone he meets always comments on his two different eyes, but they’ve just grown to be this way since he was a kitten. His vision is still perfect too. He’s always around my feet, which is handy in the winter as it keeps them warm. No one would ever know that he’s 15 years old, he’s always full of energy and loves lots of fuss.”

Name: Tennis Sent by: Tracy Jerram MCIPP, commercial director, Cox & Co “Tennis is the perfect payroll pet because he needs to be with me all the time, wherever I go in the house. Tennis meows a lot and his ‘calling’ can often be heard in online meetings, which has sparked some interesting conversations with clients. But, knowing he’s in the room with me, stretched out in front of the fire is deeply relaxing because he brings a sense of calm and comfort to my busy payroll day. Oh, what it is to be a payroll cat!”

Name: Titan Sent by: Ben Swinson ACIPP, payroll manager at Godfrey Wilson Limited “I’d like to introduce Titan, a six-year-old French Bulldog and payroll enthusiast. Throughout the pandemic and since working from home has continued, he’s supervised the running of the payroll bureau from his bed next to my desk. Titan’s great joys include long walks, delicious treats and chasing payroll information. He dislikes baths, the postman and furlough calculations. “During the pandemic, he

Name: Ebbie and Luna Sent by: Tony Whibberley-Cross MCIPPdip, payroll manager, Axis Corporate Solutions “Here are my four-legged payroll assistants when I work from my home office, which is most of the time since lockdown. Both are very good during the working day and are usually curled up in their beds relaxing. Ebbie (left) is always keen to let me know when the postman or any other visitors arrive and likes to keep an eye on my work whenever she gets a chance. Luna (right), on the other hand, is quite the opposite – the less movement she has to make, the better!”

was a great help to me as he made me take a break from the screens to go outside. He was good company as I adjusted to working from home alone, and it would be great to see him featured. I think Payroll Pets is a great section!”

If you’ve submitted your payroll pet to us and they’re not included, you’ll see them in a future issue of Professional .
