Object: A piece of paper 8% x ll inch es, or larger if visibility requires. (Fold each end to within % inch of the mid dle, leaving a gap of % inch. In this space print the word, “ PSALMS.” Open the folds and using the letters in this word, complete the following words: “ PEOPLE SANG PSALMS, KNEEL ING, HUMBLY WORSHIPING.” Lesson: You will see the word “ PSALMS” on the piece of paper which I hold in my hand. It reminds us of the book of Psalms from which God’s ancient people took many of their songs for vari ous occasions. Today, we will let the Psalms teach us some of the ways to worship God. As I open this paper, I find the words, “ PEOPLE SANG PSALMS, KNEEL ING, HUMBLY WORSHIPING.” This reminds us of the 95th Psalm. “ O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salva tion. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms” (w . 1, 2).

Objects: A drinking glass, a goldfish, a piece of thin black silk, a piece of red cloth about a yard square, a small piece of white paper and a small piece of black

paper. (The glass should be ribbed on the outside. Make a sleeve of the silk to fit exactly inside the glass, reaching to within an inch of the top. To this silk attach a silk thread that will reach over the side of the glass and about halfway down the outside. Attach a button to the outside end of the thread. Cut a piece of white paper about 3 inches long and three-quarters of an inch wide. Cover half of one side of this paper with bl^ck paper. Put enough water in the glass to bring the level up to the top of the silk. Shortly before the lesson, put the goldfish in the glass. A flower could be substituted for the fish.) Lesson: Would any of you like to have a drink from this glass? “ No it looks like ink.” You cannot always tell by looking. We will stick this white card down in the glass. (Insert the card with the white side toward the audience, and while the card is in the glass, reverse the sides with a slight shifting of the fingers, causing the side to show which has the black on it.) Now what do you think? “ I think it has ink in it.” This glass reminds me of David. He had committed a great sin. In the sight of God, his heart was as black as ink. He tried to act as if he had done noth ing wrong. God sent His messenger to tell David that he was a great sinner. David acknowledged his sin to God, and was forgiven.- After he had been for given, we find him saying in Psalm 32:1, “ Blessed is he whose transgression is for given, whose sin is covered.”

PEOPLE ir S I N G # PSALMSrn LEARN^ MANY LESSONS 1

In verse 6 we read, “ 0 come let us worship and bow down: let us kneel be fore the Lord our maker.” Not only did they sing the Psalms, but a part of their worship was to bow down in humility, kneeling before God their Maker. How beautifully the Psalmist said, “ For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand” (v. 7). We are living in a very proud age. People are proud of their education, their material possessions and their worldly attainments, making it impos sible for the Lord to giVe them His greatest blessing. They should come to Him in humility with thanksgiving, and then His blessing would rest upon them.
