personal evangelism by Ben)ambi Weiss A p u l l m a n c o a c h is quite a tight place for an important conver sation. People are in front of you, behind you, and alongside of you. The noise of the train is a continual interference to easy communication. The passing scenery invites your at tention. There is also the constant movement of people along the aisle. No, it is not the best place for con versation. On this particular morning, the coach was well filled. A young man and I had a passing conversation in the lounging section. After breakfast I noticed that he was seated across the aisle from me. We exchanged a few remarks, and as he was sitting alone, I moved over to his seat and renewed the conversation. I felt that this was an opportunity to witness, and I prayed that the Holy Spirit would open the way. The con versation was mostly “making talk” for some time. It finally turned to present day conditions and problems. Before long he touched upon a few personal problems of his own. He seemed deeply concerned about them. The conversation moved on to a junction where some of the spiritual aspects of the situation became ap parent. I asked him about his back ground and his spiritual resources. He asked some questions. This gave me an excellent opportunity to tell him about the real source of help for per sonal needs and difficulties. It took considerable listening and waiting. The moment came, and the Holy Spir it had prepared him for it. God had been preparing my own heart also. When I told him how God had solved my problems and how He could solve his, he showed real inter est. When I asked him if he would take Christ as his Saviour and place his trust in Him for all his needs, he consented. This truly was a Holy Spirit prepared moment. In a crowded pullman coach, with people all around us, he bowed his head with me and asked Jesus Christ to come into his life. It was as genuine to him as it was to me. He crossed my path just once. A few hours in a crowded pullman coach with only a seat and an aisle separating us from the other passen gers was the place to tell him about God’s grace. It was an opportunity to listen and to speak. This opportunity meant new life and new peace to a troubled young man. Opportunity everywhere!
