Marvelous Missionary Challenge of Malaya (Continued from Page 21)

here they are, in hundreds of villages, all strung out along the main highways! And since the rubber tappers are fin ished about noon, they have nothing to do with their afternoons and evenings. With so much idle time on their hands, no wonder the government resettlement officers are frustrated in not being able to occupy the minds of the people with something that is able to counteract the underground communist propaganda. No wonder when we talked with a chief resettlement officer, explaining that we had some missionaries who have had to evacuate China and would like to come to Malaya, he exclaimed, “ This is the first ray of light I have had on the mental and spiritual needs of the people now that we have them in these resettle ments.” Praise the Lord, the China Inland Mission is fully equipped to meet this great challenge. Already we have ten workers on the field. We hope there will be thirty before the end of the year. But no one ought to undertake this work unless he understands what it in volves. First, there are the primitive conditions in the camps, which corres pond to the village life in China. Sec ond, there is the great danger of living in the jungle areas. The terrorists am bush people, cars and buses. Not a day passes without such incidents, although the press does not publicize many of them. Therefore let no one who has a tendency to nervousness attempt this work. A missionary will be obliged to work several camps and must travel considerable distances. Camps range from one hundred families to a thous and or more, but the average is three or four hundred families. Here is an unprecedented challenge for missionary services which will re quire stout hearts and volumes of pray er to meet. May God help us not to fail Him on this task! At the airfield, 15 miles from Seoul, the plane turned back without landing. The Whangs waited in total darkness for three hours, when the plane re turned. On the way to Japan, Janet sat on the floor, saying Psalms and praying while S. T. talked to a passenger about his relation to Christ. Now, the Whangs are in the United States, broadcasting over The Voice of China, telling the needs of their people and devastated Korea. They are collect ing old clothes, especially wool, and plan to return to Korea as soon as possible. “ If Korea needed Christ before,” says S. T., “ now it needs Him more than ever.” “And. the poor orphans,” constantly reminds Janet. T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S Bibles For Communists (Continued from Page 16)
