Welcome and “Thank You” for your interest in the Authentic Beef Genetics program! Program being the important word here. First, We’d like to give you the founding of ABG. It all started in the spring and summer of 2024 after meeting Tan- non Dvorak (DVO Angus) and touring his herd. We were very impressed with the maternal qualities the cattle exhibited, the meat-bone ratios, and the tenderness factors they displayed. Tannon brought to the table a very keen eye as an elite cattle breeder. After buying some bulls from him in the spring, we also asked about purchasing some females from DVO. Tan- non told us he was thinking about having a herd dispersal. We considered it a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy females of the caliber that were on offer. Long story short, we ended up not only buying some of his best donor cows but also collab- orating with Tannon to build Authentic Beef Genetics. ABG is a collaboration between Tannon Dvorak, (DVO Angus Ranch), Jamie Hostetler and Sons (Hostetler Red Angus), and Sheldon Headings (Eckstein Cattle Company). David Stoltzfus (Horse- shoe Valley Farm) will also be contributing to the bulls being offered today. Tannon has agreed to take on the role of herd consultant; he makes the breeding decisions as well as culling and selection decisions. Our vision is to continue the legacy that the DVO program offered: maternal intelligence, newborn calf vigor, cow proactiveness, sexual correctness, skull shape, hormonal balance, authentic performance, tenderness, and major end game relevance resulting in handsfree cattle that make the lives of every commercial cattleman easier and more profitable. To further enhance it we are bringing some of the best red and black Angus cows to walk the planet into one pedigree, which we think can really move the needle of excel- lence forward in the beef industry. This year we have a limited number of bulls on the sale, but we are projecting to substan- tially increase that number in the next few years through an extensive ET program. TERMS AND CONDITIONS Except for those stated in the terms and conditions below, there are no warran- ties, either expressed or implied, as to merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose with respect to the cattle being sold at this auction. The warranties and guarantees set forth in the “Terms and Conditions” are in lieu of all other warranties, either expressed or implied, and the remedies provided therein shall be the sole and exclusive remedy for the Buyer, or any party claiming through Buyer, for any breach of warranty or guarantee therein provided, and all other obligations or liabilities . BIDDING The Auctioneer in charge will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision on such matters shall be final. 2. TERMS terms of sale are cash. 3. PURCHASER’S RISK Each animal becomes the risk of the Buyer as soon as sold. 4. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY A transferred certificate of registry is available for each animal upon request. 5. HEALTH All animals are eligible for interstate shipment, except for othe wise announced. Interstate health papers will be furnished for each animal in accordance with prevailing State/Federal Regulations. 6. BREEDING GUARANTEE All animals that sell for $4000 or more will receive a full first season breeding guarantee. First season is defined as a 60-day turn-out window while bulls are in breeding service. This guarantee is not an insurance or mortality policy, but a guarantee on functional fertility. It is not a substitute or replacement for poor management. Buyer assumes all risks for injury due to running bulls together or management decisions outside genetic control. If an animal is determined to be a non-breeder during his first season of service, we will provide a suitable replacement if available or a credit to a future sale will be awarded to the said bull’s owner in the amount of purchase less salvage. For the guarantee to apply, we ask that you contact us as soon as a condition is observed and before the animal is sold. All claims must be made by January 31, 2027. 7.IN-HERD SEMEN Authentic Beef Genetics reserves the right to draw semen for in herd use at our expense and the buyer’s convenience on any bull. 8. GENETIC DEFECT AND PARENTAGE GUARANTEE a. The parentage of all animals sold by the Seller is guaranteed to the extent that the animal is by the sire and out of the dam that is indicated on its registration papers. b. All test results confirming an animal’s genetic defect status must be disclosed to potential buyers prior to that animal’s sale. 10. BULLS DEVELOPED WITHOUT CREEP FEED
ABG DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM All our calves are born out on pasture in whatever conditions nature throws at them. We start calving around March 1, with a few calves coming in February. All our calves are with their mothers getting only mother’s milk and grass- NO CREEP FEED. We wean our bull calves around 205 days and the heifer calves are left on their dams for a couple more months. All our 205-day and yearling weights are taken as close to the date as possible for the highest accuracy. The bull calves are weaned off on prairie grass hay and then introduced to the J and R Bull Developer pellet at about 3-5# then increased slowly over a period of time to about 12-15# along with free choice prairie grass hay and limited grass mix baleage. All bulls have been vaccinated and boosted with the Bovi-shield Gold program. Our mineral program includes Sea-90 mineral salt, By-o-Reg and Vitalix mineral tubs.
