4. We all have responsibilities - to ourselves and to one another. When one act is done haphazardly or ignored, it impacts everything else. (In other words, we can’t ignore the chickens in order to play with the horses; Feeding the chickens properly ensures that they are healthy and happy because we can’t risk losing chickens and the eggs just because we want to give the horses a little treat.)
5. Speak up when you’re stuck and need help. Someone will be there to support you. You’re not alone on the farm.
6. If you’re not getting what you need, talk about it. Together, we can make it right.
7. Finally, we all need to hold ourselves accountable. We can’t blame the chicken if our decisions led us to a horse of a problem.
What one person may interpret as stubbornness or a disregard for the rules may in fact be what the other feels is an injustice. We women need to stick together. To learn from all perspectives of a disagreement to avoid harming one another. Now, more than ever, we need to know one another. And daily, I thank the women in my life, the ones I know, the ones I don’t know, who have taught me patience, kindness, creative problem solving, and a willful disregard of injustice.
